Yamaha R25 registers 2,800 online bookings

Yamaha Indonesia have announced that it has received 2,800 bookings for the Yamaha R25 within 25 hours of its launch

The Yamaha R25 had generated lot of curiosity around itself prior to its launch and gladly for the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer this has also converted into positive sales. Yamaha Indonesia has announced that it has received 2,800 online bookings for the R25 within 25 hours of the bike going on sale. The number wouldn’t seem impressive with respect to the sheer volume of motorcycles being sold in our country but when one factors in the Rs 2.78 lakh price tag for which the Yamaha R25 retails in Indonesia it sure is impressive. Also Yamaha have announced that the bookings in authorised showrooms spread across Indonesia have commenced and this should further boost the sales of the Yamaha R25. Yamaha had set itself a target of selling 12,000 units by end of 2014 but given the above booking numbers it is sure that the R25 will overshoot the above set target and we are sure Yamaha isn’t complaining.

Firepower to the Yamaha R25 is provided by a 249cc, parallel-twin, 8-valve, liquid-cooled motor pumps out 36PS at a heady 12,000rpm and torque rating stands at 22.5Nm at 10,000rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear-wheel via a six-speed gearbox. The Yamaha R25 employs diamond type frame and has a 1,380mm wheelbase that is marginally longer than the R15, while it weighs in at 166kg.


Suspension duties are taken care of by meaty looking 41mm telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock setup at the back. For braking purpose, the Yamaha R25 employs a 298mm, single disc brakes at front and 220mm disc brakes at rear. It is expected that Yamaha will launch the R25 by early 2015 in our market and it should be priced around Rs 3 lakh.
