When brawny Bollywood actor John Abraham, pointing at you in a Captain Sam pose, calls upon to join his ‘mission to experience India on FZS FI’, few can decline the offer. Scroll though Yamaha Mission 10,000km’s Facebook page and there are plenty more posts with Abraham looking intense and captions like ‘Entries for audition open… Are you?’ (yes, you read that right) and some safe riding tip videos by the star. The invitation is to participate in a month-long ride on the newly refreshed Yamaha FZS FI, from New Delhi to Chennai riding a total of about 10,000km.
Yamaha has shortlisted twenty participants from cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Guwahati, chosen after a round of auditions that included personal interviews and online voting. These riders will be split into two teams of 10 bikers each, with the first team heading towards the East while the other towards the West, before they converge and meet once again in Chennai, their final destination.
The ‘Mission’ will be flagged off this weekend, on September 14th from India Gate in Delhi by none other than John Abraham along with Miss India 2014 Koyal Rana. Yamaha says that the ‘Mission 10000km’ is an initiative to encourage safe and congenial bike riding across the nation with a theme of ‘Discovering a whole new India’.
