Kids learn the basics of road safety, importance of riding gear and proper techniques of riding a motorcycle

Adrenaline pumped youngsters getting adventurous on their motorcycles can often have fatal results when they are not backed by a basic understanding of the correct riding techniques. Bike maker Yamaha since it entry into India, has been very pro-active in organizing educational camps for training young kids in the art of the proper biking and safe riding techniques, which over its brief formative period has achieved great results and attracted a lot of attention amongst the young motorcycling enthusiasts in the country.

Yamaha launched the Yamaha Safe Riding (YSRS) initiative in 2008, and since then has successfully conducted safety riding workshop for children in the cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Nagpur and Goa. It also recently conducted similar workshops for kids in Varanasi and Kolkata. Happy with the overall response to their educational biking initiative in recent times, Yamaha put together a similar kind of workshop in Noida on the 28th of last month (April 2011) and carried forward its tradition of offering knowledge & exposure to children on safe riding techniques

Attended by 120 students between 8 - 13 years of age from Delhi Public School, Greater Noida, the day long program was divided into 2 sessions. The first was a classroom or theoretical session on safe riding, followed by a practical session wherein the kids were taught the basics of road safety, importance of riding gear and also how to ride a Yamaha TTR 50 and PW 50 bike, which with its smaller proportions and limited brake horsepower served as the best trainer for the young amateurs.

The children taking part in the Kidz Yamaha Safe Riding Science learnt proper riding techniques from Yamaha licensed trainers, which apart from the helping the kids contributed to raising traffic safety awareness among local communities.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jun Nakata, Director-Sales and Marketing, said, “Our Yamaha Safe Riding Science (YSRS) initiative is directed towards today’s kids. We want to teach them the nuances of riding safely so that when they grow up and start riding bikes they are well aware of traffic safety and proper riding techniques. We are glad that our YSRS initiative has been acknowledged and well accepted across India.”

Yamaha has plans of taking this initiative to the inner parts of the country and hopes that it will go a long way in inculcating safe riding habits among those who have a passion for biking.
