Yamaha Motor India Ltd. has registered a growth of 23.2 per cent in sales during November 2010 as compared to the corresponding period last year.

Second half of year 2010 has seen the Yamaha brand associating itself with a myriad of marketing initiatives in an attempt to bring its brand closer to the Indian customer. From its Yamaha Fiesta in Bangalore, the recently held Yamaha Riding Clinic in Chennai and the soon to begin Yamaha R15 One Make Race Championship on the 4th and 5th of December, Yamaha has increased awareness about its superior bike offering in India and at the same time encouraged safe riding through its various customer participation initiatives.

This has reflected on Yamaha's overall sales for the year 2010, as the bike manufacturer has managed to sell 30,310 units in November 2010 vs. 24,600 units sold in November 2009. In domestic markets, the company has sold 22,710 units in November 2010 vs. 17,055 units in the same month last year; a growth of 33.2 per cent. The export figures stood at 7,600 units in November 2010 while 7,545 units were exported in November 2009.

Expressing happiness over Yamaha's continued strong performance in India, Mr. H. Suzuki, the new CEO & Managing Director, India Yamaha Motor said, "We are glad that our sales have maintained a consistent growth trend. Our premium segment bikes such as FZ series and YZF-R15 are doing very well. Our powerful commuter SZ bike and entry level YBR 125 and YBR 110 bikes also continue to grow at a brisk pace which shows that we have been able to meet the customers' expectations with a strong product portfolio. We expect our strong showing to continue in the coming months."

Apart from its various marketing and biking initiatives Yamaha is also focusing its efforts on strengthening its dealer network in tier-2 & tier-3 cities and increasing sub-dealers in rural areas too.
