The new Volvo S60 Cross Country gets a higher ground clearance

Volvo S60 Cross Country revealed

Volvo has revealed the new S60 Cross Country in full guise ahead of its public debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. With the introduction of the S60 Cross Country, the Swedish carmaker has tapped on the growing demand in the crossover segment globally by clubbing the best elements of an SUV with those of a standard family car.

The new Volvo S60 Cross Country is basically an S60, but with an increase in ride height. The new S60 Cross Country is 4,635mm long, 2,097mm wide, 1,484mm tall, and offers an increased ride height of 65mm to allow for extra ground clearance and an elevated driving position.

The company has restrained itself from applying rugged external design features to the new S60 Cross Country. The car looks capable without being aggressive and is the first non-station Volvo wagon to be given the Cross Country treatment.

The new S60 Cross Country will be offered with both 18-inch and 19-inch wheels, both running high profile tyres. Depending on the market, this new car will be made available in an all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive versions. Engine options will be the same as the S60’s, and a D4 diesel powered all-wheel drive will also be offered.

More details on the vehicle will be available once it is officially revealed at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.
