Volkswagen has announced it is set to introduce standard-fit ESC and DAB digital radio systems in all of its new passenger car models in the UK, from the Volkswagen up! to the Volkswagen Phaeton. This decision means the German carmaker’s entire model range will now feature the two technology systems for no added cost.
ESC detects critical situations at an early stage, and takes action by applying the brakes to one or more wheels, and reduces engine power if necessary to stop skidding, and help bring the car safely back under control.
DAB digital radio gives customers a greater choice of stations for their listening pleasure, from music to sports. All Volkswagen audio systems also include FM radio reception, and the majority of models come with Bluetooth audio connectivity, as well as iPod, USB or aux-in connections.

The German carmaker claims it was one of the first manufacturers to make DAB standard on many models in the UK, having added it from May 2012 in every 2013 model-year vehicle from Volkswagen Polo to Volkswagen Toured. It was added to the Volkswagen Phaeton later in 2012, and introduced as an option on the Volkswagen up! in 2013.
Volkswagen has one of the largest model ranges in the UK, spanning from the Volkswagen up!, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Beetle, Volkswagen Tiguan, Volkswagen Passat, Volkswagen CC, Volkswagen Touran, Volkswagen Touareg to the Volkswagen Phaeton. Engines include a wide range of petrol and diesel units, as well as fully electric vehicles. A plug-in hybrid joins the UK line-up next year.
