Volkswagen will carry forward its successful run in the inaugural season of the Polo Cup with a second season that will take commence later this year. Having already closed its registrations for this years championship at a whopping 1,598 entries, Volkswagen will go through its regular routine in choosing the best racers and motorsport enthusiasts for a chance to race in the country’s premier annual tour car racing event, one of whom will be the crowned the 2011 Polo Cup Champion.
Commenting on the overwhelming response so far for the second season of the championship, Dr. John Chacko, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India, President and Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private Limited said, “We are extremely pleased with the response we have received so far in terms of the number and the quality of the entries. The immense success of the inaugural season of the Polo Cup and the response so far is proof of the latent talent and interest for the sport in India.”

Of the 1,598 registrations, a majority of the drivers fall in the 16 – 20 year age group and mostly hail from the Southern or Western parts of India.
