Ducati is gearing up for its second innings in the premium performance spectrum of the Indian two-wheeler market. While the first Ducati dealership which is touted as the largest Ducati dealership in Asia is being setup in Gurgaon, the second dealership for the Italian brand will be based in Mumbai. The Ducati Mumbai showroom will be located in the tony locality of Bandra. Giving company to Ducati in Bandra will be Royal Enfield and Harley-Davidson as both the above dealerships are nearby to the upcoming Ducati showroom. Given the fact that Bandra is home to highest number of superbikes in the city, it seems to be a great move by Ducati. The erstwhile Ducati Mumbai dealership was located at Atria Mall in Worli. The Ducati Mumbai dealership isn’t operational currently as its still in the construction stage. Ducati has been tight-lipped about its India launch date but it is speculated to start its Indian operations in March itself.
Ducati will be bringing its entire line-up of motorcycles for the Indian market but in a phased manner. The first launches are expected to be CBU units and by the second or third month of operation, the CKD units are also likely to be included. For India, Ducati will be importing the bikes from Thailand and will include the Monster series of bikes, Panigale supersport series, Multistrada adventure tourer, Diavel power cruiser. The newly launched Scrambler variants will be the most affordable Ducati models in India and will retail for Rs 6.38 lakh. For pricing of other Ducati India motorcycles click here. Only the Ducati Streetfighter will be not on sale in our market.
The Italian superbike maker had entered the Indian market early in 2008, but the choice of distributor in India put Ducati on the backfoot and dented its reputation. This time around though, Ducati is officially entering the India under its new owner Audi which is also officially present in our market. In its second innings, Ducati hopes to make a good impression in the Indian market, and even for existing Ducati owners, there will be service and spares support from the factory in India.
