Dealer sources have told ZigWheels that Triumph India as a goodwill gesture is offering two packages for the existing streetbike owners. Triumph India is offering the customers of Street Triple an option of taking Rs 1 lakh cash back as compensation or buy official Triumph accessories worth Rs 1.5 lakh free of cost. The list of accessories includes cosmetic additions, aftermarket exhaust systems to riding gear. Contrary to many reports, Triumph India is not offering full cash back or hiking the power output to 106PS.

There was controversy when ARAI tested figures of the Triumph Street Triple was recently made public which rated the power output for the streetbike at 79PS, as opposed to the 106PS as claimed by Triumph on their website and brochure. When Triumph India officials were enquired about this irregularity they claimed that the models in the Indian market sold were the detuned Brazil-spec Street Triple’s producing 85PS. The detuned engine was brought to India to better cope with the low quality fuel available in our market.

The compensation package is only available for existing Triumph Street Triple owners who will be contacted by Triumph India officially to avail the above scheme. New buyers for the Triumph Street Triple would have to pay the whole amount and they will be not given any cash discount or additional accessories as now it’s officially being mentioned in the brochure that the Street Triple has a power output of 85PS.
