Toyota Corolla Altis discontinued

Following the unveiling of the 2014 Toyota Corolla at the Auto Expo earlier this year, and then the official announcement of the launch date, Toyota Kirloskar Motors have now stopped booking and sales of the outgoing Corolla Altis. The Corolla has been a much appreciated and recognised car, and has sold more than 88,000 units ever since its launch in India. Dealerships have already started accepting booking for this new model for a booking amount of Rs 50,000. 

Similar to the Altis, the new Corolla too will be offered in both, petrol as well as diesel. It will continue to be offered with a 1.8-litre VVTi petrol engine that produces 140PS of power and the 1.4-litre D4-D diesel mill that churns out nearly 90 horses. Both the variants will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission while the petrol will also be on sale with a 7-speed CVT gearbox. It will be offered in 15-inch and 16-inch wheel options. 

So what’s new in the 2014 Corolla, you ask? Well, keeping in sync with the current generation models, this too will get an updated design on the outside as well as on the inside. The design, swept back headlights and the increase in length gives it a more contemporary and mature disposition. As opposed to the third generation model, this one has a lot of chrome that makes it look more premium. 

But for those who still like the outgoing, this might just be the last chance to get your hands on one. Some dealerships still have the outgoing model in their inventory and on sale. And considering that the model is out of the production lines, about to make way for the new one, dealerships are offering heavy discounts as well. Taking into account that the refreshed Corolla is going to have the same underpinnings as the outgoing one, it might just be a deal worth considering.
