Images of the new Suzuki GSX-S1000 have been leaked on the internet prior to its launch

2015 Suzuki GSX-S100

After months of speculations and numerous renderings, images of the production version of the Suzuki GSX-S1000 have been leaked on the internet after the bike was caught during a photo shoot prior to its launch. The new motorcycle is the streetbike version of the Suzuki GSX-R1000 superbike. Styling of the Suzuki GSX-S1000 is in sync with modern streetbikes with a mass forward design language. The bike sports a sharp and compact headlamp, whereas the fuel tank has neatly crafted creases with the edgy looking tank shrouds, while the rear of the bike tapers down pleasingly with a petite LED tail lamp and stubby muffler. The overall design of the bike is sporty and aggressive which should appeal to naked bike aficionados.

Suzuki hasn’t divulged any information regarding the bike’s specifications and other details. But it is expected that the new Suzuki GSX-S1000 will be powered by the same in-line-four cylinder, liquid-cooled motor as found on its faired sibling churning out around 185PS of peak power. At this power output, the new Suzuki GSX-S1000 will be among the most powerful production streetbikes in the world when it goes on sale.  Power will be transmitted to the rear-wheel via a six-speed transmission with revised gearing ratios for better low-end torque delivery. From the pictures it is clear that Suzuki have adopted a more upright riding posture on the GSX-S1000 to better suit its streetfighter dynamics.

It is expected that Suzuki will endow the new GSX-S1000 with a traction control system most likely to be lifted from the Suzuki V-Strom 1000 (Read our review here). Braking on the bike is done by Brembo sourced disc brakes and ABS would most likely be an optional fitment. The new Suzuki GSX-S1000 is expected to debut at the INTERMOT show in Cologne, Germany or at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy by end of 2014. Suzuki will be having high hopes on the GSX-S1000 as it is the first superbike derived naked offering to be launched since production of the Hayabusa based B-King was stopped in 2012. The new Suzuki GSX-S1000 will be pitched against the like of the Kawasaki Z1000, Honda CB1000, Yamaha FZ1 and BMW S1000R when it makes it debut in our market by 2015 with an estimated pricing of Rs 12 to 14 lakh (ex-showroom).
