SsangYong Rexton launch today at an expected price of Rs 18 lakh

With an expected priced tag of around Rs 18 lakh, the SsangYong Rexton, now in its third generation, will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Ford Endeavour

Mahindra-SsangYong will be launching the Rexton W in India tomorrow at an expected price of around Rs 18 lakh. SsangYong had unveiled the face-lifted Rexton W at the 2012 Busan Motor Show.

But there is more than just a face-lift to the Rexton W. Behind the restyled front end is a 2.0-litre diesel engine that has replaced the previous 2.7-litre unit. The 2.0-litre engine develops 156PS of power and 360Nm of torque. SsangYong will offer two gearbox options on the Rexton W in India, a five-speed manual and five-speed automatic gearbox.

The cosmetic tweaks include a completely new front end with a new bonnet, bumper, grille, side aprons, headlights, fog lamps and indicators on the outside rear-view mirrors. At the back, a new bumper and new taillights complete the face-lift.

The face-lift has given the Rexton a more contemporary look that will indeed work well in the Indian car market.

Now in its third generation, the SsangYong Rexton W will compete with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Ford Endeavour.

Mahindra will manufacture the Rexton W at its Chakan facility.
