Rolls-Royce SUV officially confirmed

Rolls-Royce is considered to be the ultimate fantasy of luxury and opulence on wheels by many. After years of persuasion from loyal customers, the iconic British car marque has finally decided to reinstate this belief of car enthusiasts by announcing plans to launch a new crossover or SUV type vehicle, a first in it’s long and glorious history.

Although, the company hasn’t directly stated that this new model is a SUV/crossover, but has dropped hints by mentioning that the new model will have taller dimensions, exceptional presence, elegance, purpose and the ability to tackle any terrains, which points out to it being an SUV or a crossover with all-wheel-drive capabilities.

The luxury carmaker states that this forthcoming new model will be a high-bodied car and will be built on an all-new aluminum architecture. The British carmaker also claims that this will be its most significant product announcement since the introduction of the Phantom Series 1 in 2003 which incidentally gave the aging marque a new lease on life.

According to Rolls-Royce, the theme of this vehicle is ‘Effortless…Everywhere’. The company states that this model has evolved out of its own thirst to innovate. This new Rolls-Royce crossover will be designed by a team led by Giles Taylor, Director of Design, Rolls-Royce to create something different and exceptional for its customers and will adhere to design philosophies that Rolls-Royce currently embodies, states the luxury carmaker.

This new crossover is Rolls-Royce’s answer to its rival Bentley which has recently announced a new SUV - the Bentley Bentayga and the likes of the Maserati Kuband and the Lamborghini Urus, all of which are slated for their official production debut sometime in the next two years. Expect the Rolls-Royce SUV/Crossover to be the most expensive SUV that one can buy, with countries like China, United States and areas like the middle-east as their most important markets.

Although, this is the first SUV/Crossover that Rolls-Royce is making in its modern era, they are no strangers to making tough vehicles that were used to take on a variety of terrain. Quite a few Rolls-Royces that came to India in the pre-1947 era for instance were used regularly for royal activities like the ‘Shikar’ or hunt and were often fitted out with accessories that made them easier to use in the outdoors. Rolls-Royce also made a variety of armored vehicles using both normal rubber tyres and halftrack contraptions during the first and second world wars. All in all, with BMW’s backing and Rolls-Royce’s attention to detail, we are sure that this new uber luxury SUV/crossover from Rolls-Royce will certainly be something to eagerly look forward to in the coming years.
