Cross-country touring is by far the best way of showing off a vehicle's endurance, but Renault trucks is taking it one step further. The company has recently announced its spectacular and ambitious endeavour to traverse the length of Europe and Africa in what it calls the 'Cape-to-Cape' adventure. Participating in the journey will be six Renault Sherpa small trucks and six Renault Kerax full-size trucks.
The caravan plans to set off from the North Cape in Norway on the 1st of March and plans to reach the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa 16 weeks later on the 1st of July. On the way, the fleet will pass through Russia and the Middle-East before entering Africa through Egypt and making its way South down the African continent.
The journey will also offer a great test of endurance for the trucks not only owing to the massive changes in the terrain but also on account of vastly varying weather conditions - right from the snowed down parts of Norway and Russia to the extreme heat of the Sahara.Renault is no stranger to cross-country adventures, since its trucks have previously undertaken spectacular journeys along the Silk Route from Europe to China and Tenere adventures across the Maghrabean Sahara. This one promises to be a cracker of a tour too, and we'll keep you posted about it here on ZigWheels.com.
