Royal Enfield announced that renowned designer Pierre Terblanche has joined the iconic Indian two-wheeler manufacturer. Terblanche hails from South Africa and started his career with car manufacturer Volkswagen before switching over to two-wheels. He commenced his two-wheeler journey with Italian bikemaker Cagiva and he worked at its research centre at San Marino under design genius Massimo Tamburini. After Cagiva was acquired by US-based group he shifted to Ducati. It was at Ducati that he created some of his renowned creations, the most acclaimed of it was the controversial Ducati 999/749. Other notable bikes designed by Pierre Terblanche include the Hypermotard, Multistrada, SportClassic etc.

Apart from Ducati, Pierre Treblanche also worked with Moto Guzzi and Norton Motorcycle Company. Among his recent masterpieces is the Confederate X132 Hellcat Speedster that was showcased in August 2014. Apart from motorcycles he has also designed boats for South African shipyard Bobkat. Royal Enfield has been focussing its attention on the international market and the hiring of Treblanche can be seen as a step to make its design appeal to the international consumers especially from Europe. Whether the South African designer will play his part in the upcoming 400cc adventure offering from Royal Enfield remains a question only time will answer. But going by his prolific past we can expect some gorgeous motorcycles from the stables of Royal Enfield heading our way.
