Back in 2013, Nissan set hearts aflutter when its mighty GT-R set a lap time of 7 minutes 8.679 seconds around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, thus awarding itself the title of the fastest “volume production vehicle” around the feared circuit. That achievement was thanks in no small measure to Nismo, Nissan’s in-house tuning skunkworks, which fettled the GT-R with some choice aftermarket components, most of which weren’t available to customers even with the Nissan GT-R Nismo Edition. But now, finally, customers who have been hankering after that same level of power, performance, and dynamics in their road-going supercar can now get their hands on one. Provided they live either in the USA or Japan.
When the Las Vegas Motor Show, also known as the SEMA, opens its doors early next month, Nissan will show off a special trim of the GT-R armed with the Nismo N-Attack Package. The N-Attack Package, developed by Nissan Motorsports International, includes more aggressive aerodynamic bits, stronger suspension, and bucket seats designed to help the driver cope with more g-forces. The most noticeable difference is a rear wing that’s even larger than the one on the “standard” GT-R Nismo. Mechanically, the GT-R Nismo runs a more powerful 600PS and 650Nm version of the regular GT-R’s twin turbo V6 engine.
"Developed by Nissan Motorsports International Co., Ltd., the NISMO N-Attack Package consists of the dedicated parts that were specially developed through the time attack project at Nürburgring in Germany, where the Nissan GT-R NISMO recorded the fastest-ever lap time for a volume production vehicle," Nissan says in a statement.
Japanese GT-R owners can get the upgrade done at the company’s Omori factory, having their packages installed by the same mechanics who worked on the ‘ring record car. For US bound vehicles, the package will installed locally by Stillen, also another well-renowned name in Nissan tuning.
Nissan has not yet quoted price for the GT-R Nismo N-Attack Package, but we don’t expect it to come cheap.
