Stefan Pierer, CEO, KTM was in India to launch a couple of new compact sports bike models – KTM RC 390 and KTM RC 200. Speaking on the occasion, Pierer said that no new models will be coming this year, but confirmed that KTM will be launching at least two new models in India next year.

Targeting the fast growing leisure motorcycle touring trend of India, the Austrian company will be introducing the new KTM Adventure series motorcycle, probably the KTM 1050 Adventure, which is due to be unveiled during the EICMA in Milan in November this year.
The new KTM Adventure bike will be brought to India as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units and assembled at KTM’s Indian partner – Bajaj Auto’s plant in Pune, where the JV already produces the KTM 125/200/390 Duke and now the KTM RC 120, 200 and 390. The new KTM Adventure bike will compete with the likes of Triumph Tiger 800XC and Suzuki V-Strom, which are priced between Rs 13 to 17 lakh.

Pierer also acknowledged the fact the KTM is a world market leader when it comes to off road motorcycles. So, expect to see a KTM Enduro model making its way to our shores via the CKD route.
Finally, the KTM CEO also stated that a new 250cc motorcycle is in the pipe line for India, but refrained from revealing more details. We expect the new 250cc to be a twin-cylinder motor. We say this because Pierer has been reported saying that also on the cards is a twin-cylinder engine which will be produced at the Bajaj facility and will be exported to other regions from here.
