Legendary Italian carmaker Maserati begins its second innings in India with three dealerships, one each in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore to sell the Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans and the GranTurismo sportscar

Maserati re-launches India operations

Maserati has announced its second coming in India today with a more hands-on approach. The Italian carmaker readies its own network in the Country, now backed by parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India. Three dealerships are planned in India to be opened in this quarter. AMP Supercars, Bagga Luxury Motorcars and Jubilant Autoworks are the authorized dealerships in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore respectively.

Maserati will also have dedicated service facilities at all three locations that the company says will be up to global standards. The three dealerships will sell the entire Maserati lineup that includes the new Ghibli  and Quattroporte sedan, the GranTurismo Coupe an d GranCabrio convertible. Bojan Jankulovski has been appointed Head of India operations backed by his 15 years of experience in the automotive industry. Calcutta, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Chennai are the next four cities that Maserati looks to venture into.

Maserati plans to sell less than 100 cars per annum in India. Globally Maserati is on a high since 2012 when it sold 6,200 units. Sales have been growing multifold since. In 2013, Maserati sold 15,400 units and in 2014, the number went up to 36,500 units. Maserati also plans to bring the Levante and Alfieri to India when they go into production.

Maserati will sell the Ghibli in India only with the diesel engine. The engine is a 3.0-litre V6 developing 274PS of power and 600Nm of torque. 0-100kmph comes in 6.3 seconds and top speed is 263kmph. Prices of the Ghibli start from Rs 1.1 crore. The Quattroporte will be available in the top of the line GTS version. It is powered by a 3.8-litre V8 developing 530PS of power and 710Nm of torque. Top speed is 307kmph and 0-100kmph comes in 4.7 seconds. It is priced at Rs 2.2 crore. The diesel Quattroporte is priced at Rs 1.5 crore and comes powered by the same diesel engine as the Ghibli.

All versions of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio will also be sold in India. Prices for the GranTurismo start from Rs 1.8 crore and GranCabrio prices start from Rs 2.0 crore. Power output renges from 410PS from the 4.2 V8 to 460PS from the 4.7-litre V8 units in the MC Stradale and MC Centennial editions.
