Maruti Suzuki have given its long successful workhorse the WagonR a makeover and launched the WagonR Stingray. The Stingray is a jazzed up avatar of the WagonR and can be easily distinguished by its all-new front featuring a slim and sleek chrome-finished grille, a large air dam, and redesigned fog lamp housings. The biggest change in the new car is the projector headlamps which is a segment first. Other exterior changes include gunmetal grey coloured alloys, side skirts, roof mounted rear wing and a chrome back door garnish with the ‘Stingray’ embossing in bold.
Changes are not restricted to the exterior alone as the Stingray features an all-black theme interiors with tilt adjustable leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, Stingray themed seats, instrument cluster with blue background and electrically adjustable OVRMs along with power windows. Also it employs a multi information display which gives information like distance to empty, instant and average fuel efficiency. To keep the passengers entertained, one gets an audio system with in-built USB & AUX support.
No changes have been made on the mechanical front and the Stingray would be powered by the same 998cc, 3-cylinder mill as found on the WagonR producing 68PS @6,200rpm and a torque rating of 90Nm @ 3,500rpm. Maruti claims that the Stingray would have an efficiency figure of 20.5kmpl, which would be confirmed once we test the car.
Driver airbag and ABS would be optional on the VXI model whereas rear wiper and de-fogger would be standard on it. Maruti has priced the base model at Rs 4,09,999 for the base LXI variant, the mid-variant VXI has been priced at Rs 4,37,999 and the top variant VXI with options has been priced t Rs 4,66,999 (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi).
