Maruti Suzuki YBA spied, expected launch before Auto Expo 2016

It is hard to keep a Maruti Suzuki vehicle under wraps these days. The company’s first compact SUV/crossover codenamed YBA has been spotted completely undisguised as you can see in these pictures and it looks like a well proportioned package. The YBA is rumoured to be called the Vitara Brezza, a reminder of the Grand Vitara of sorts being an SUV but in a more affordable form.

The YBA/Vitara Brezza gets short overhangs to tuck it neatly under the 4 metre mark, a neat power bulge on the bonnet, a straightforward set of rectangular headlamps and a proper SUV profile for the right stance. Strong waistlines running all the way back to the taillamps will accentuate the car’s road presence as will the square-ish profile.

Powering the YBA/Vitara Brezza will be the usual set of Maruti Suzuki engines from the Swift and the YRA premium compact hatchback. Maruti is developing a new turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol engine for the premium hatchback that should also make it to the compact SUV. The diesel will be the ubiquitous 1.3-litre Fiat sourced unit powering the Ciaz and Ertiga.

Major launch times this year are occupied for Maruti Suzuki. The S-Cross in a month or two and the YRA hatchback around Diwali. That leaves Maruti with the month of January, just before the Auto Expo for the launch of the YBA.
