Maruti Suzuki S-Cross launch on August 5

We recently reported that Maruti Suzuki will launch its Nexa dealerships in India on July 23rd and these dealerships will cater to all its premium offerings above Rs 8 lakh. One of the cars that will go on sale in these Nexa dealerships and is sure to attract a huge crowd of potential buyers is the new S-Cross. This car marks Maruti Suzuki’s entry into the premium crossover segment. 

Our sources close to Maruti Suzuki have said the S-Cross will be launched in the first week of August 2015, Maruti hasn't confirmed the date as yet. However, our sources reveal that they are expected to bring in the S-Cross into the market on August 5.

For the S-Cross Maruti Suzuki has taken a no-petrol  approach and will introduced two Diesel engine options. Both the engines have been sourced from Fiat – a 1.3-litre DDiS 200  unit that makes 90PS and 200Nm and the larger DDiS 320 in sync with its 320Nm of torque and 120PS of power produced from a 1.6-litre heart. Apart from a reliable and a powerful engine, the S-Cross will also come heavily loaded with features including, a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system, a reversing camera with parking sensors, ABS as standard across all variants, airbags, all 4 disc brakes, and more. Other features include, projector HID headlights, keyless entry, button start and cruise control. 

While there is no news about the price range of the new Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, we expect the 90PS 1.3-litre variant to be priced around the Hyundai i20 Active range while the larger 1.6 S-Cross will compete with the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the likes in terms of pricing. The S-Cross is expected to be launched around Rs 8-12 lakh.
