Will roll out in South Africa , Sri Lanka and shortly thereafter will enter markets in Latin America & Australia where Mahindra already has a considerable presence in the pick up segment

Mahindra launched its new range of ‘Genio’ pick up vehicles in India earlier this year. Now, availabe in both single and double-cabin versions, the new generation pick-ups at its competitive pricing brought in a lot of segement first comforts and safety features for end users.

However, Mahindra’s confidence in the ‘Genio’ range has paved way for the vehicle’s wider footprint, as Mahindra has now announced that it will roll-out its international versions of the same ‘Genio’ model range starting with South Africa and Sri Lanka, followed shortly by Latin America & Australia, where the company already has a significant presence.

The global range of Genio models, has however been beefed up for exports, with the 120 bhp 2.2 litre m-Hawk engine now replacing the 75bhp m2DiCR engine that presently powers the Indian spec ‘Genio’ range of pickups.

Speaking at the announcement of the Genio’s global penetration into UV markets, Dr. Pawan Goenka, President – Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, “This is a proud moment for all of us at Mahindra as it marks our very first global launch in India. Manufactured at our world class plant in Chakan, the Genio incorporates a high level of technological excellence, both in terms of power and styling. This next generation pick up launched to much critical acclaim in India and is now all set to be marketed worldwide.”

The stylish and versatile next generation pick up from Mahindra should see decent demand in utility vehicle markets worldwide owing to its rugged build and added functionality as compared to run of the mill pick ups sold both here in India and abroad. Features such as foldable flight trays, tilt steering, a Digital Drive Assist System, 4WD and a 2 DIN audio system with complete connectivity options is sure to make the export models of the Genio a well-accepted vehicle even in the most developed UV markets, where it will soon be available.
