Mahindra two-wheeler duo – the scooter Gusto and the tourer bike Mojo – have been recognised with the India Design Mark (IMARK) award, which celebrates excellence in the country’s design quarters, informed a press release. Other winners of the award, organised by India Design Council, included creative brands like Elephant Design, the brain behind the Paperboat beverage range.
India Design Mark is awarded to an applicant as a result of a diligent evaluation process that is aimed at identifying good design which exceeds the prescribed criteria of evaluation, said the release. Once certified with the IMARK recognition, a product asserts its identity as a usable, durable, aesthetically appealing, and socially responsible market offering.
The Mahindra Mojo was also the winner of the Readers’ Choice Bike of the Year at the 2015 ZigWheels Awards last month. The bike is powered by a 295cc displacement single-cylinder mill churning out 28PS at 8,000rpm and peak torque rating of 30Nm at just 5,000rpm.
On the other hand, the Mahindra Gusto is supplied energy from an in-house developed 110cc, single-cylinder motor which Mahindra calls M-TEC. The single-cylinder engine churns out 8PS of peak power and 8.5Nm of maximum torque. Power is transmitted to the rear-wheel via a CVT transmission.
On the occasion, chief operating officer of Mahindra Two Wheelers, Vinod Sahay accredited the staff of the company’s Pithampur plant for the recent accolade. “We, at Mahindra Two Wheelers, are committed to continuously enhance our product line-up across both the scooter and motorcycle rang.”
“We will persist in our endeavour to exceed all customer expectations and raise the bar,” he added.
