Lamborghini have a strong relationship with the official Italian state police. In the past, the supercar manufacturer has donated a handful of its Lamborghini Gallardos over the years and now the Italian Police have a brand new Lamborghini Huracan to add to their fine fleet. The Huracan was handed over to the head of the Italian Police, Prefect Alessandro Pansa, in a ceremony in Rome at the ‘‘Museo delle Auto Storiche della Polizia di Stato’’ by Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.

The Italian police have in the past used both the original and the facelifted Gallardo with much success. Both the city of Rome and Bologna received their own individual Gallardo models in 2004 and 2005 respectively. These were later replaced by the mid-life facelifts of the Gallardo in 2008. While in service, both cities clocked over 2,50,000kms in totality on their respective Gallardo models. The cars were used in high-speed Italian motorway patrols, intra city patrols and in emergency medical situations.

Speaking on the occasion, Stephan Winkelmann said, ‘‘we have a strong and fitting relationship with the Italian State Police. The new Lamborghini Huracán stands for Italian super sports car excellence and we are proud to provide it to the Italian State Police to carry out the specialist tasks these police cars undertake.’’
