Priceless trophies were stolen last week after thieves broke into the National Motorcycle Museum near Birmingham.
The robbers left a trail of destruction at the museum and took off with invaluable trophies – some of immense historical value to the industry and motorsport. The trophies include replicas awarded at the Isle of Man TT.
The museum is offering a GBP 20,000 award or over Rs 20 lakh for information that leads to the safe recovery of the trophies. According to a statement from the museum, the trophies and replicas have little value as scrap, but described them as “a unique and irreplaceable part of this country’s motorcycling heritage.”
Many of the cups and shields were donated or loaned to the museum by leading motorsport figures. Most were silver and inscribed with details of the owner, so it is thought the thieves targeted the haul to melt down.
