Yamaha Motor Co. Launched an innovative smartphone application called “RevTranslator”. According to Yamaha the RevTranslator app coverts the engine sound to select from the 100 million various combinations of preset phrases to communicate with the rider. For the RevTranslator to function the rider has to record the engine note on his smartphone and depending on the bike’s speed, the time of the day, weather and other complex information the app replies with a phrase.

The application users can create their own personal profile based on the six different characters to represent the bike, including a male character or a female—the responses evaluated by the app are influenced by these personalities. Also, on every occasion the user translates, he gets rewarded with points which can be used to unlock rare caricatures of various Yamaha products used worldwide. The Japanese version of the app was launched a few months back whereas the English version has been launched recently and is available for free on App Store and Google Play.
