Hero Motocorp sales up 11.5% in January 2012

Hero Motocorp Ltd (HCML) has once again fortified its leadership as the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world, reporting over 5 lakh unit sales during January 2012

Hero Motocorp sold 5,20,272 units during in January 2012, recording a 11.5 percent growth compared to 4,66,524 units sold during the corresponding period in 2011. The cumulative sales of the company during the April 2011 – January 2012 period has been recorded at 51,83,440 units, a 17.4 percent growth  over the corresponding period of April 2010 – January 2011 when the company recorded 44,14,537 units in sales. 

Commenting on the performance, Anil Dua, Senior Vice-President (Marketing & Sales), Hero MotoCorp, said, “We have made a good beginning to the new year with our January performance. We are pleased with the trend of five lakh-plus unit sales every month for the past six months, and we are confident of building further on these numbers. 

“We showcased our new range at the recently-concluded Auto Expo in Delhi. While many of these will be launched in the market in a phased manner, the scooter segment will be seeing immediate action with the launch of our 110cc scooter Maestro soon.”

The Hero Maestro 110cc scooter first showcased in London at the company’s brand unveiling was also displayed at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo will be targeted at the youth, looking for a contemporary urban runabout. The Maestro develops 8.2PS of power at 7,500 rpm and will feature an integrated braking system that will engage both front and rear brakes when the rear brake lever is engaged, giving it better stopping power. The Maestro will soon be out in the market and it will be priced competitively against the existing competition.
