Italian automobile major is set to carve a niche for its premium scooter brand Vespa in India. It already has three scooter models in the market and is set to launch the fourth one soon. The current line-up includes the Vespa LX 125, Vespa VX 125 and the recently launched Vespa S. Besides this, also on offer is a limited edition based on the Vespa VX 125, called the Vespa Esclusivo.
ZigWheels has exclusively learnt that the latest Vespa scooter to be introduced in India will be an altogether new model called the Vespa Elegante. The new scooter is also said to be based on the Vespa VX 125 platform, but will be more stylish and quite distinct from it.
The new Vespa Elegante will borrow some design inspiration from the popular international model Vespa Primavera; which includes a smart triangular front grille, round head light, front disc brake and tubeless tyres. Making a comeback will be a stylish retro split seats, which will definitely stand out in the crowd. In addition, it will be available in attractive colours like Pearl White and Marrakech Brown, along with other trendy Vespa body colours.
The new Vespa Elegante will come powered by a 125cc air-cooled petrol engine serving 10PS of peak power and a maximum torque of 10.6Nm, which also does the duty in other Vespa models in India. The new scooter is set to be launched in September to make the most of the festive season, priced around Rs 79,000.
