BMW brings its armoured vehicles to India to take on Mercedes' M-Guard and Audi's A8 security

BMW 7-Series High Security

BMW’s flagship model, the 7-series is the latest entrant in the armoured car brigade coming into India. High Security as BMW terms its armoured vehicles will make available the 7-series on sale in India. The 7-series High Security will take on the likes of the Mercedes M-Guard and Audi A8 Security in India.

The Association of test laboratories for bullet resistant materials and constructions (VPAM) in Germany rates the 7-series High Security with VR7 Ballistic Protection for the entire car and VR7 for the non-transparent areas according to their 2009 guidelines. Safety features in the 7-series High Security include an on-board fire-fighting system, an emergency exit and an emergency fresh-air system. It can withstand bullets from an AK-47 rifle, keep you safe from engine fires or fires under the vehicle, tear gas or jammed doors. 

Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW India said, "The BMW 760Li High Security provides optimum safety in the individual mobility segment in combination with unparalleled comfort of travel, superior drive technology and an abundance of innovative equipment features to guarantee confident motoring at all times.”

The 760Li has a 6.0-litre V12 petrol engine under the hood developing 552PS of power and 750Nm of torque. In India the 7-series High Security will be available as a long wheelbase version. Other BMW security vehicles include the X5 Security Plus and the X5 Security. These haven’t been launched in India yet.
