Aside from working on the new generation of Pulsars, Bajaj is also working towards developing a new commuter brand. ZigWheels has the dope

The commuter segment of motorcycles is the one that gets the volumes in the Indian market. And while efficiency is one of the major factors that determine sales, the market is gradually starting to demand a certain styling quotient and premium feel along with it. To cater to this class of buyer, Bajaj is looking to introduce an all-new brand of commuter motorcycles in India.

The Chakan-based bike maker already has the Platina and the Discover moniker on sale and may look at positioning the new commuter brand between the two. Our guess is that the first offering under this brand could be a 125cc motorcycle with a mature design that would appeal to the masses and will not be like any of the Bajaj offerings currently on sale. This new brand could well compete with the likes of the Honda Stunner and the Hero Ignitor.

While details of this new offering are still sketchy, it is safe to assume that its underpinnings will be similar to what we have already seen on the Discover brand, and like the Discover 125M might come with a 124.6cc single cylinder motor, capable of producing 11.5PS and 10.8Nm.

In recent time Bajaj is struggling in getting a hold in the commuter segment, which is dominated by Hero MotoCorp and Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India. With this new brand, Bajaj is hoping to change this perception. Our sources revealed that this new brand of commuter motorcycles is expected to be launched in the second half of the financial year. Meanwhile, work on the Pulsar range will continue as Bajaj also hinted that its power cruiser the CS400 will be launched by March 2016.
