2015 Honda CB300F

Honda has announced that it will launch its latest streetbike offering, the Honda CB300F in the US market in September 2014. The new Honda CB300F is basically the streetbike version of the Honda CBR300R that is due to hit our shores as a replacement of the ageing CBR250R soon. The design of the new Honda CB300F has been influenced from the CB500F street-fighter, especially the headlights and the tank extensions. Part sharing with the CBR300R is visible on the mudguards, seats, exhaust and tail section. Rear-set footpegs and flat handlebar should result in a subtly sporty yet comfortable riding position, which is essential for a streetbike.

Powering the Honda CB300F will be the 286cc, single-cylinder, for-stroke mill producing 31PS @ 8,500rpm and a torque rating of 27Nm @ 7,250rpm. The powerplant is a bored out version of the 249cc engine as found on the CBR250R with the same basic engine construction and PGM-FI takes care of fuelling the bike. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a six-speed transmission. Braking is done via a single 296mm disc brakes at front and 220mm disc at rear, while ABS has been given a miss even as an option. Suspension duties are handled by 37mm telescopic front forks and 5-step, spring loaded mono-shock setup at the back. The Honda CB300F has a fuel tank capacity of 12.9-litre and it tips the scale at 158kg. The 2015 Honda CB300F has been priced at Rs 2.4 lakh in the US market and will be available only in red shade.

2015 Honda CBR300R

On the Indian context, the CBR 300R is expected to be launched in our two-wheeler market by end of 2014 as a replacement to the Honda CBR 250R. So it is safe to say that the Honda CB300F will also eventually make its way to our shores by 2015. The Honda CB300F will be pitched against the Suzuki Inazuma and the upcoming Kawasaki Z250 but unlike its Japanese counterparts it will be powered by a single-cylinder powerplant that should make it cheaper than them.
