Four new models have been showcased, with all the bikes getting an injection of new technology, including traction control

2015 Triumph Tiger 800 XRx

Triumph has revealed two main variants of the Tiger 800 – the XR series aimed at road use and the XC series targeted at a more off-road usage. Each model has a top of the line ‘x’ variant, which boasts more technology, including traction control and rider modes, and all models are fitted with switchable ABS as standard.

Changes to styling are minimal, and all the models feature new front light and side panels.  While ABS is standard on all models, and can be either on or off, the top-of-the-line XRx and XCx variants have more customized ABS preferences available via the three riding modes.

The XRx and XCx models feature three riding modes to control the throttle map, traction control and ABS settings through Road, Off Road or Rider Mode settings. The Road and Off Road modes optimize the settings to match the terrain and riding preference. Rider Mode offers the rider further customization and a more personalized configuration to select between a choice of throttle maps that include Rain, Road, Sport and Off Road.

All the new variants feature trip computers, but the ‘x’ variants offer additional information including journey time, average speed, average fuel economy, range to empty and instantaneous fuel consumption. Triumph claims mechanical losses have been reduced inside the engine as well and a lighter gear change action has been incorporated. This, the company claims, has led to fuel efficiency increasing by as much as 17 per cent over the earlier models.

The XR models feature Showa suspension, both front and rear, while the XC models have WP forks and a WP mono shock adjustable for preload and damping. The new Tiger XR comes kitted out with light-weight cast aluminium wheels, 17-inch rear and 19-inch at the front. The XC however, gets a 17-inch rear and a 21-inch front wheel, both spoked for strength and flexibility over rough terrain.
