The JLR group, backed by good worldwide economic growth saw a 14 per cent increase in global luxury car sales

Jaguar Land Rover shows sales increase

The Tata Motors owned Jaguar Land Rover group, has recorded impressive worldwide sales growth of 14 per cent in February 2014. The overall growth has stemmed from the sales of both the Jaguar and Land Rover brands. Jaguar’s individual sales went up by 15 per cent at 5,300 vehicles sold worldwide. Land Rover on the other hand saw a 13 per cent in global sales for February at an impressive 25,187 vehicles.

The high growth of the Jaguar Land Rover comes mainly due to high sales in China and the Asia Pacific region accounting to 60 per cent of overall sales. China by itself saw a rise of 44 per cent growth in terms of sales while conventional Jaguar Land Rover markets like North America showcased growth of close to 12 per cent. European sales though saw only a marginal 1 per cent growth possibly due to unrest in certain parts of the continent leading to poor overall economic growth.

Jaguar’s overall sales growth in the 2014 calendar year has been up a healthy 19 per cent, with China and surrounding regions contributing to 56 per cent of the overall growth followed by North America at 34 per cent and Asia Pacific region contributing five per cent. On the other hand, the UK and European sales were down a surprising nine per cent. The decrease in sales was attributed to certain special editions, which were launched around this time in 2013, which contributed largely to sales in the Euro region.

Land Rover on the other hand continued it’s strong growth with sales up by 13 per cent in the 2014 calendar year as compared to last year. As with Jaguar, Land Rover’s growth too was led by China’s high sales which attributed to 44 per cent of growth followed by the Asia Pacific region showing 20 per cent and North America at five per cent. Other overseas markets, including India showcased a sales growth of 18 per cent adding to the overall growth.

New Range Rover Sport in India

With a new range of models lined up from Jaguar, namely the all-new XE sedan which will take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the BMW 3 Series and the production version of the C-X17 SUV, expect even higher global sales figures from the British luxury car maker. Land Rover too will soon launch the production version of its all new Defender along with an all new Land Rover Freelander 3 with styling inspired from the likes of the Range Rover Evoque and the new Range Rover Sport.
