Honda posts 20 per cent growth in FY 2014-15

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) posted more than double the two-wheeler industry growth at 20 per cent in the Financial Year 2014-15

HMSI, the second largest two wheeler company by volume, sold 44,52,010 units in the financial year April 1, 2014  - March 31, 2015 period, clocking impressive year-on-year growth of 20 per cent.

This is more than double the 8 per cent growth posted by the overall two-wheeler industry. In the domestic market, scooter sales continue to dominate Honda’s sales figures, accounting for 25,02,240 units out of the over 44 lakh units sold in FY 2014-15.

In the month of March 2015 alone, HMSI sold 3,99,178 units, as against 3,92,060 units in the same month last year. Scooters also formed the bulk of the company’s sales in March, accounting for 2,38,919 units as against 1,45, 508 units of motorcycles sold in the same month.

Overall exports for Honda grew from 1,63,616 units in the previous financial year to 1,88,259 units in this financial year (April 1, 2014 – March 31, 2015).
