Indian Motorcycle dealership coming up in Gurgaon

Popular American motorcycle maker, Indian Motorcycle, is opening its first showroom in our country this month. The company announced that it will be inaugurating its debut store at Info City in Gurgaon, Haryana on the May 7. The Indian Motorcycle Gurgaon dealership will be on par to its other outlets across the globe and will display and sell the company’s international range of motorcycles, accessories and apparels.

Indian Motorcycle has a rich heritage in the two-wheeler industry and has been producing motorcycles since 1901. In the past, the company witnessed several change in ownerships, and in 2011 it was acquired by Polaris Industries, better known in India for its All Terrain Vehicles. After the acquisition, Indian Motorcycles revamped their motorcycle line-up and introduced three new cruisers in 2013 - the Chief Classic, Chief Vintage and Chieftain.

Although the three new Indian Motorcycle models are designed keeping in mind the old school of thought cruisers, they are based on a modern air-cooled and fuel-injected 1,811cc Thunder Stroke 111 engine which produces strong torque of 138.9Nm at 2,600rpm. In terms of design the three bikes have their distinct character, but follow traditional cruiser design with overload of chrome, studded seats and the company’s trademark flowing rear fender. Unlike its traditional rival Harley-Davidson, Indian Motorcycle has no immediate plans of localisation and will be importing its motorcycle range via the Completely Built Units (CBU) route and hence will attract hefty duties in India. The least expensive model on offer is the Indian Chief Classic at Rs 26.5 lakh which comes with ABS, cruise control and keyless start as standard. Priced at Rs 29.5 lakh, the Indian Chief Vintage comes loaded with stylish leather saddle bags and a quick-release windshield.

The top-of-the-line Chieftain will come at a staggering Rs 33 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi) and can be recognised by its muscular fairing and hard saddle bags. For the extra buck, the Indian Chieftain also boasts of tyre-pressure monitoring and even 100W Bluetooth speakers that can play music from your smartphones. Though Indian Motorcycle has set up a warehouse in Faridabad, company engineers can travel across the country to sort out any issues that the Indian Motorcycle owners might face. After the launch of the Gurgaon showroom, Indian Motorcycle will open its second dealership in Bangalore later this year.
