New 3M headlight repair kit hits store shelves

3M is a diversified technology company that makes everything from household products to car accessories and cleaning agents. In India the firm has come to be known for its car window sun films. The company recently launched a new headlamp repair kit comprising two new compounds – 3M Plastic Restorer and 3M Plastic Polish. Every kit comes with 12 individual units that can also be bought separately. The new kit is an easy to use six-part process similar to flatting and polishing, which allows a person to make each headlamp lens look as good as new in about 15 to 30 minutes. 

Most cars today come with plastic clear lens headlamps. Prolonged exposure to UV rays from the sun lead to deterioration of lenses over time by hazing or discolouration. This hampers road illumination at night. 

From a safety point of view, there is a clear market need to provide a viable and cost effective solution without having to replace a car’s headlights, especially if the repair is a minor one involving reflectors, bulb holders, etc. Sometimes headlights tend to damage or break during slow parking maneuvers or in bumper-to-bumper traffic. The new 3M headlight repair kit allows bodyshops and vehicle owners to repair and remove minor damages and scratches from headlight lenses thereby reducing maintenance costs and improving headlight illumination at night.

The kit is presently available in international markets but could hit Indian store shelves soon considering 3M’s rapid growth in the country.
