Almost half way through the year and we have already seen some very interesting launches and yet there are a lot more to come. We compile a list of the most awaited cars of 2015

1.) Honda Jazz

Honda Jazz

Despite being a brilliant product, the Honda Jazz didn’t quite get the numbers when it was first launched in India. And that mainly for its price and for it not being on sale with a diesel engine option. But this time round, the Japanese car maker has plunked a diesel unit into the new 2015 Jazz. What really worked for the Jazz was the fact that it was a true-blue 5 seater which was big on space. In this new avatar, the Jazz will not only stay true to its DNA but will also get a makeover. The 2015 Honda Jazz with its purposeful design and sharp lines looks better than ever. Yes, keeping in mind that it will face some stiff competition from the Volkswagen Polo, the Hyundai Elite i20 and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YRA hatchback, Honda is expected to price it aggressively too. Honda will launch the new Jazz in July and is expected to be launched between Rs 6-8.5 lakh.

2.) Maruti Suzuki S-Cross

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross

Crossover hatchbacks have really been picking up in the Indian market off late. The first to taste success was the Toyota Etios Cross and more recently Hyundai has joined the bandwagon with the i20 Active. Maruti Suzuki doesn’t want to be left behind and will soon be introducing the S-Cross. Like all other cars in this class, the S-Cross too will have bold aggressive styling with body claddings and pseudo scuff plates at the front as well as at the back. The S-Cross will come with Ertiga’s 1.4-litre petrol mill that makes 95PS and 130Nm and the 1.3-litre DDiS unit that pumps 90PS and 200Nm. A S-Cross with a 1.6-litre unit has also been spotted in India. Internationally this unit comes mated to a CVT and in an AWD trim but we will have to wait and see if it is brought to Indian shores. Maruti is expected to launch it between Rs 5.5-8 lakh.

3.) Ford Figo Aspire

Ford Figo Aspire

Ford will be the latest manufacturer to make an entry in the sub-4 metre sedan class with its Figo Aspire. Set to be launched next month, the compact-sedan offering will go against the likes of the Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire and the Tata Zest.  Expect the ford Figo Aspire to be priced between Rs 5-8 lakh. Ford has done a good job designing the Figo Aspire and making it look like a smaller Fiesta. On the inside too it gains inspiration from the EcoSport. When it is launched, the Figo Aspire will come with two engine options. A 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit that will make 70PS and 102Nm. And a 1.5-litre diesel unit that churning 90PS and 204Nm. The Ford Figo Aspire should be launched at a starting price of about Rs 5 lakh.

This is one car that a lot of SUV enthusiasts have been waiting for. Not just because of the kind of cars Hyundai has been developing off late but it is also expected to set a new benchmark int he compact SUV segment. In terms of looks, the ix25 draws inspiration from its elder sibling the ix35 and will be in sync with the brand current design language. Needless to say it will come heavily loaded with features. Under the hood, it will come with the same engine options as the Verna. The 1.6-litre petrol unit will produce 123PS and 155Nm while the same displacement diesel motor produces 128PS and 260Nm. The ix25 will go against the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Nissan Terrano and the Renault Duster.

5.) Volkswagen Stuffe / Bora

Volkswagen Stuffe, Volkswagen Bora

So far, Volkswagen doesn’t have an offering in the suv-4 metre sedan space. But considering the increasing demand for these vehicles, the German car maker will introduce the Stuffe / Bora compact sedan towards the end of the year. Needless to say, that the Stuffe / Bora too will sport Volkswagen family design with a clear inspiration from the larger Vento. To make the most of the excise duty cuts, the new compact sedan will come with the same engine options as the Polo – a 1.2-litre petrol mill and a 1.5-litre oil burner. It will go against the Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Tata Zest, Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire and the upcoming Ford Figo Aspire. Expect it to be launched at a starting price of Rs 5.5 lakh.
