Toyota Launches New Camry!

In line with product upgrades happening throughout the Toyota line up in India, the company has today launched the New Camry. The new car boasts of a series of changes that is bound to build on its already dynamic stance. Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. is intent on bringing their best to the country and the new Camry also highlights the company's commitment to the Indian market.

Chervolet Aveo

The New Camry is essentially comes with a refreshed look on the existing platform. Exterior changes include a bolder front grille and bumper, multi reflector headlights, chrome rimmed fog lamps and built in LED turn signals on the Outer Rear View Mirrors (OVRMs). The body retains its taunt look highlighted by the bold lines. Accentuating the car's appeal however are the new ten spoke alloys that the Camry now comes on.

The interiors have also received a plethora of 'touch-ups' and the inclusion of new features. These features include Plasmacluster Technology and a Minus Ion Generator for the Air-conditioning system, which helps eliminate germs from the air, rear A/C vents, independent climate control for driver and co-passenger, a multi functional steering wheel with audio, information display, and air conditioning controls in order to allow the driver to keep his eyes on the road and hands on the wheel at all times. The stereo system has been upgraded to a high end Psychoacoustics unit that is capable of playing CD/MP3/WMA and has an AUX-in, should you want to connect your ipod to it. Apart from that, the interiors still come across as one of the most comfortable places you can be. The high end materials and oodles of space make the Camry a great car to be chauffeured around in.

However, if driving the car yourself is what you prefer, then you can always rely on the 2.4 litre VVT-i engine to give you that necessary feeling of brilliance. The 4 cylinder engine churns out a healthy 167 PS @ 6000rpm and a maximum power of 224Nm@ 4000 rpm. Available in both manual and automatic, the New Camry is bound to be an enhanced driving experience over its predecessor. Incidentally the New Camry automatic boasts of a 5 speed electronically controlled transmission (ECT) which is said to give the user an amazingly smooth shift feel and allow for linear acceleration.

Speaking about the New Camry, Hiroshi Nakagawa, MD, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, revealed, "The Toyota Camry has already redefined the concept of the premium luxury car in India. We are delighted to now introduce the New Camry that will offer an exclusive blend of modern styling and luxurious features to our Indian customers."

The new Camry also boasts of a series of safety features which include, six airbags, ABS, EBD, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Whiplash Injury Lessening(WIL) concept seats, Brake Assist (BA), and a number of additional structural features to ensure for a safe cabin in the event of an accident.

Its an upgrade for the better and in its new avatar the Camry is even better value for money than before.

Most of the taxis in Dubai are Camrys which clock almost half a million kms before they are replaced and sold. The car seems industructible! | Reply

I have been using Camry in UAE. You guys cannot compare Toyota Camry with the other cars. I have droven camry at 160-190km speed from Dubai.wow, I never felt that Iam driving at that speed. I felt that, Iam driving at 60kmph. Least maintenance. I always recommend Camry. | Reply

Hi everyone, there is no doubt that Toyota Camery is one of the most reliable and most selling car in USA. We gave our 5 yr old car to our 22 yr old son only because it is a safe and trusted vehicle. I, myself was driving Audi A6. I loved it. I will not lie. But the maintainance on german cars is so high I decided to trade that car for another one. I was inclined towards Honda Accord and Camery. Test drove...And camery won. Honda was too loud and rough as compared to Camery. And I went for Camery Hybrid which is giving me 33miles(90KM approx) /gallon average. But at the end it all depends on what you are looking for and how you take care of your vehicle...And how easy it is to approach a dealer for maintainance. Good Luch with your choice... | Reply

The price for any foreign brand sold in India is always high; mainly due to very high excise duty applied by Govt. of India unlike US where there is Open Market! Camry is a great car since almost a decade its been a most reliable car. Recently I had a chat with a local car mechanic in my town and he told that Camrys are rare to see at repair shop. All they need is regular engine oil change! I was surprised and happy to know such a great fact about something that I owe. Its a great car. Also equally, most of all the Japanese made cars are among the best cars. If you want to go for quality and compromise on luxury then buy Japanese cars, If you want quality and luxury then go for German cars, if you want luxury and compromise on quality then go for American cars. All other have many quality glitches! Good Luck buying and driving. | Reply

very highly priced -- accord better -- but would go for the skoda superb any day -- wont pay 20L for a van front. | Reply

i am driving this car in UAE. Truly fantastic even at speeds of 190 km/hr. The only issue is on turns @ speeds of 160 kmph. Avh is really good. Gives close to 14 km/hr on speeds at 120-140/ goes down to 11 when speed is above 160. Better than the accord at any stage | Reply

I will never buy this simply due to the fact that in Delhi, TOYOTA for some strange reasons has only one dealer and this delaer service is poor.Even the attitude is poor. I have nothing against TOYOTA cars. I only prefer HONDA OR TOYOTA but sinply due to delaer attitude I go for HONDAVinod | Reply

This is better than Camry's two previous models. even with this ugly front grill we can tolerate a bit.. Exhaust pipe still hangs, they never learn to tuck it.this model costs only $ 18,000 ( 9 Lakhs) in USA, why should it costs 22 Lakhs in India.keep your hands away from this monster. | Reply

Folks, This is the best selling mid sized sedan in US for almost a decade and the top-end model is priced at $28,000 (Rs. 13 lacs approx). I own one, but would never pay an 'extra' 10 lacs premium over accord. The only 'real' differentiators between accord and camry are (a) Camry has a very 'smooth/quite' car and (b) it's each individual's personal preference. It's like deciding between a Canon and Nikon...and it's a never ending debate which is better...but either ways you can never go wrong. | Reply

they need to stop bringing camry as cbu. they should start production here asap. 4 to 5 lakhs rupees premium over accord is not at all worth. accord beats camry in every department. no doubt about that. wake up toyota. before its too late | Reply

not at all close to new accord as far as style is concerned. the front grille is disgusting for a 20 lac car | Reply

toyota makes cars that are more reliable than honda...........and look is slightly inferior to honda but its not so bad either ....price is high though.... | Reply

Toyota has never led in coming up with good looking cars even though they make some of the best cars. Honda is way ahead in terms of looks and whats more they too make fantastic cars. | Reply
  • Praketa saxena (31 July 2009 21:48)
very crapy looks and expesive. I would go for an accord | Reply

I just do not know what is wrong with the Toyota designers. We (customers) will not feel bad if all your products look different and do not have the "family" look. The Camry's front grill does not belong to the 20 lakhs price range and looks very similar to the new Innova's grill. Toyota, it is high time you guys hired some designers from Honda! | Reply
  • adkesavan (31 July 2009 19:12)
hi guys at toyota, the nose could have been different from the new innova, i still feel new honda accord looks smashing. | Reply
