It's coming! A new top-of-the-line bike from the Bajaj Auto stable is about to break cover. Will it be able to move the market towards performance biking like its predecessors? ZigWheels speculates...

There's good news for thirsting Indian performance bike enthusiasts. ZigWheels has confirmed reports of a new Bajaj performance bike which is through with its development and testing phase and is ready to be launched before the end of this month!

Details are thin and speculative, but we'd like to take our gamble and say that this will in all likelihood be a new bike from the company's Pulsar range. Given that the company has recently launched an upgraded 2009 version of the Pulsar 180 DTSi, we'd also go a step further to speculate that the new bike is likely to be aimed at a segment higher than this in terms of performance.

It is about time that Bajaj Auto resumed its battle in the premium performance bike space - one that it has dominated for the last few years with its Pulsar 200 DTSi and Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi. Yamaha India has however pulled off a quick one on the leader with two very competent launches over the last year in the form of the YZF-R15 and the FZ-16, which has now been upgraded to the FZ-S. The recently revealed TVS Apache RTR 180 will also be squarely in Bajaj Auto's crosshair.

We can't wait to see whether Bajaj Auto chooses to fight these with its new bike, and what it has in its bag to fight the might of the light and nimble R15 if it opts to do so. Could it be an R15 beater with home-grown space age technology? Any power figures coming through? What would you like from the bike? Feel free to comment - we have a few fragments of news, let's see if we can piece this together by ourselves before Bajaj Auto chooses to reveal the official details!

Here's hoping that the masses who have waited for a long, long time to see another stonker from Bajaj Auto are not disappointed. We're trying hard to get details out, so stay logged in to ZigWheels.com. The wait won't be long!
