TVS has showcased a flex-fuel version of the Apache RTR 160 4V at the Auto Expo 2023
It runs on a blend of ethanol & petrol, with the percentage of ethanol varying from 20% to 85%
It gets the same 159.7cc engine which produces 17.55PS & 14.73Nm, same as the petrol bike
TVS had showcased an Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 flex-fuel bike back in 2019, which could run on 100% ethanol
However, we’ve come to know that the 200cc E100 bike was not feasible, and hence the RTR 160
Ethanol has lesser unit energy compared to petrol, but can burn at a higher compression ratio
It also burns completely at lower temperatures, allowing the engine to remain cooler
However, ethanol is corrosive in nature, thus the engine internals have been tweaked with alternate material
The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V flex-fuel is a good example of a greener alternative
