Toyota South Africa has launched Fortuner with mild-hybrid system paired to its diesel engine

The 48 V mild-hybrid system is coupled with the same 204 PS 2.8-litre diesel engine sold on our shores

The mild-hybrid tech adds up to 16 PS and 65 Nm, combinedly producing 204 PS and 500 Nm

Toyota mentions this mild-hybrid tech improves fuel efficiency by about 5 percent

This mild-hybrid diesel engine is offered only with 6-speed automatic transmission

South African Fortuner also gets additional safety features like 360-degree camera and ADAS

We expect Toyota to introduce this mild-hybrid powertrain in India later down the line

South Africa is first market for the Toyota Fortuner with a mild-hybrid system
