BMW iX5 Hydrogen Is The Next-gen Fuel Cell EV
The BMW iX5 is a hydrogen-powered EV based on the X5 SUV.
It’s a test bed for BMW’s next-gen fuel cell drivetrain.
It has a fully sealed fuel cell stack under the bonnet.
The fuel cells are paired with an e-motor good for up to 374PS.
Hydrogen is stored in two carbon fibre fuel tanks in the EV.
BMW has developed a production unit for hydrogen cars in Munich.
It’s being made in small numbers for testing and demonstration
