Features: The Volkswagen Taigun is equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch digital driver's display, automatic climate control, a six-speaker sound system with subwoofer, ambient lighting, a single-pane sunroof, powered front seats with ventilation, a wireless phone charger, cruise control, footwell lighting, and keyless entry with push-button start. The safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and a reverse camera with parking sensors.

Engine: The VW Taigun comes with two engine options which include a 115PS/178Nm 1-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 150PS/250Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The former is paired with either 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission while the latter is paired with 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. The 1-litre TSI achieves a claimed mileage of 19.87kmpl (MT) and 18.15kmpl (AT), while the 1.5-litre TSI delivers a claimed mileage of 18.61kmpl (MT) and 19.01kmpl (AT) It measures 4221mm in length, 1760mm in width, 1612mm in height, and has a 2651mm wheelbase.

Rivals: The VW Taigun rivals the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Citroen C3 Aircross and MG Astor.

Variants: It is offered in two broad trims: Dynamic Line (Comfortline, Highline, Topline) and Performance Line (GT, GT Plus and GT Edge). Volkswagen also offers the Taigun Sound special edition which is based on the Topline variant of the compact SUV. Colour options include: Curcuma Yellow, Wild Cherry Red, Candy White, Rising Blue Metallic, Lava Blue, Carbon Steel Grey, Deep Black Pearl and Reflex Silver.

Volkswagen has launched a new Highline Plus variant for the Taigun subcompact SUV. The new variant comes with additional features such as an electric sunroof, 8-inch digital driver’s display, auto dimming IRVM, keyless entry with push button start stop, and automatic headlights. It gets the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine, available with both manual and automatic transmission options.

The Taigun GT Line has been updated with some new features including an 8-inch digital driver’s display, aluminum pedals, a sunroof, push button start-stop, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers. The Topline variants of Taigun now get an amplifier and a subwoofer as standard.

The Volkswagen Taigun is a compact SUV and is built on the India-specific MQB A0 IN platform.
