A Year with My Yamaha FZS-FI V3

The Yamaha FZS-FI V3 has been my trusty steed for over a year now and it been a mostly delightful experience. The bike 149cc engine with 12.4 PS power and 13.6 Nm torque packs enough punch for city rides and short sprints outside town. Its fuel efficiency is excellent at about 45 kmpl making it an economical choice. The bike does have its downsides. The rear suspension can feel a bit stiff on rough roads translating to a less comfortable ride in unpredictable Indian road conditions.

A Mixed Bag Experience

It has been a rollercoaster ride with my Yamaha FZS-FI V3. The allure of its sharp design complemented by the sleek LED headlight and digital dashboard made me fall for it instantly. With a 149cc engine outputting 12.4 PS, it erase the line between power and efficiency beautifully. It has been mostly smooth sailing or should I say riding especially in the city thanks to its agile handling and lightweight (137kg).But The seat hardness is something that could have been given more thought not aiding in the comfort needed for longer rides.

My Experience with Yamaha FZ-FI V3

After clocking more than a few thousand kilometers on my Yamaha FZ-FI V3, it feels like high time to pen down my journey so far. First off the bike's design captures your eye , it has sleek, modern and has that muscular stance synonymous with the Yamaha FZ series. Its 149cc engine might seem modest on paper delivering 12.4 PS of power but it packs a punch in real world conditions offering a smooth ride even on bumpy roads. The fuel efficiency is pretty decent as well gives around the 45 kmpl mark which is a blessing given the fluctuating fuel prices.

And the riding position is also so comfortable, It feels relaxed while riding this bike. So in comfort, it's 10/10. 2. Coming to the pros and cons, I will keep it very short. Pros are good looks, Brand trust, Comfort, and mileage(will tell the number in further points). Cons: I haven't observed it yet but many of them are facing issues with the tank panel, The quality could have been more good but yeah that's what we get. Other than that some people feel the power is a little less considering the other bikes in the budget(it's a personal opinion, For me as a commuting rider I don't really need more power so I am fine with it but for some this can be a con). Coming to the overall performance I would say it's the best. Like 9/10. One mark for that tank quality but otherwise it's amazing. The pickup of the bike, The mids, The exhaust note, Everything feels up to the mark. As of now, I am getting mileage of 40-45 in city traffic. I have seen people getting 50-55+ too. Again it depends on your riding style and roads too. But I am satisfied with it. So no regrets regarding the mileage.4.Talking about some things I liked the most, For the deluxe variant which I own I am in love with the color. The blue alloy wheels are amazing. Also, we get Bluetooth connectivity feature which is 90% times more useful since it gives extra security and also you get to see some of your ride stats. For 10% I was facing connection issues, But that's fine. We get enough for what we paying for.5.Lastly about the after-sales service, It's good. Again depends from showroom to showroom to be very honest. But for me, it was pretty fine. For 1st and 2nd free service, I was charged approx.800-900, Which is ok in my opinion. To summarize, This is one of the best options in the budget segment. Of course, there are other options with more power Or some other features. But again as I said its a personal opinion. For me, it was the brand trust, The looks(10/10 for looks), Mileage, Comfort, and long last. So I went for this amazing bike. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any questions. Happy and safe riding :).

Performance: Has been great

4.6

Performance: has been great till now.Did plenty of long trips (>300 km) in himalayan roads, And never faced any issues thankfully.Absolute breeze through highways, Although doing more than 110 kmph is difficult. But i think that is more than sufficient more often than not.Enough capacity to pull through even steep slopes.Wont fly through obviously (no 150 cc bike ever will), But does the job fairly comfortably.Handling and comfort: superb.Riding posture is comfortable.Lightweight, Easily maneuverable through crowded city road. The broad rear tyres always make you feel stable, Planted and balanced.Very comfortable for both short and long rides.Did more than 12 hours at a stretch plenty of times, Never faced much issues other than normal soreness and stiffness for excessively long ride periods.Looks: subjective.Bought it because i loved it personally.A front visor should have been available at least as an option.Fuel economy: superb.I get more than 55 on a regular basis (avg 56-57).The most i have got is 62 kmpl! of course this is dependent on the style of riding.Cons: getting spare parts is a bit of a nightmare. They do not bother to keep even the most basic of spares and always give a timeline of at least 10 days for procurement, And mostly not available in other accessories stores.Surprisingly, The v2.0 spare parts are more readily available in the market (and even the showroom!).The rear mud guard is at an odd angle so that things may get a little messy in the monsoons. Not at all a dealbreaker though. The enjoyable ride quality and experience more than makes up for the few glitches here and there.Nothing is perfect after all.

Older people

It's a good commuter bike with good mileage around 50 to 55 (sometimes more than that).0 to 70 is faster after that the bike is little bit laging after 100 is very bad because it takes too much time to achieve 108.Overall the bike is perfect for a beginner not for intermediate rider it is best upgrade from scooty. It is a family bike (in the case of young people.Sometimes the older people will face some height issues).Back break is not good and the front break is okay but not the best. The bike comes with single channel abs.The gear position indicator is missing it is major complaint because fzs v3 comes with blutooth connectivity, All features are ther exept gear position indicator.Afterall it's a good bike.If you are a beginner go for it.I love this bike.

Daily comm

4.6

Overall experience is really amazing for daily commuter as it has all the specs which meets the requirements like mileage, Looks handling braking and all so can say it is all in one package if you exclude pickup and speed which is not even that bad but if we compare it with other in same segment then sure that does make a difference as it's a bit slow.Otherwise getting mileage of 50-55 in city in 150 cc segment is unimaginable.Service cost is not that high it has everything in my opinion.

Awesome bike

Pros: #awesome bike, #straight sitting, #comfortable speed upto 80-90kmph, 90-100 (minor vibrations are there)#45+kmpl mileage (on highways you can upto 50kmpl mileage)#12+ litre fuel tank.Cons: (only if it matters to you)# low ground clearance, It touches speed breakers (in india) if travelling with pillion.# low turning radius (it's a problem if you are new rider)#not comfortable for ladies (side sitting).

Xp95 petrol

I have had fzs v3 since 2020 almost.Complete 2 years with this bike. There are some problems which i faced with this bike like overheating. When i start the bike and drive for the same distance, The bike would get hot and the performance of the bike drop and gear shifting is also tight up or downshift. The engine used to gasp at 6000 to 7000 rpm. There was also a strange sound when the bike goes hot like tik-tik from the engine.Which is irritating. When i am using motul 7100 there is no problem with bike-related starting, Performance and mileage.Gear shifting is a very smooth downshift or upshift, But i need more performance.I change from motul 7100 to motul 300v factory line 10w40 in my bike. The most important thing is the performance. The noticeable change in the bike acceleration is also changed. Then earlier when i use 7100.Gear shifting is like touching the gear shifter, And gear shift automatically up and downshifts like feather smooth gear shift.Mid and high acceleration is a noticeable increase than earlier. There is no issue with engine heat. There is no lack in the performance of the engine.Even after running for a long time. Now bike easily touch its limiter 9000 rpm and goes easily 115+kmph.There has also been an increment of about 1.5 nm torque. Before the stock was 13.6 nm torque. Now 15 nm torque is coming out. Those who drive the bike say that it is running completely different from the other fz.There is more power than 150cc.Now the bike has a 15t front sprocket in place of a 14t front stock sprocket in the bike, Even the has bike.No noticeable power drop.I am using an iridium spark plug or using xp95 petrol in the bike.
