Bajaj Pulsar Dominar 400 is a battle-proof monster, whose sporty execution blends together intensity and classic chic. Having a huge sporty design, the bike showcases personification of power and a 373cc power engine. With aggressive acceleration, the performance has no room for the boredom. The feature sets such as the Dual-channel ABS and full LED lighting in it are of utmost importance to ensure the top-notch security and visibility among the streets. Not only its ergonomics and nimbleness, but also it is designed to deal with crowded city traffic or blurring of the road on highways.

A Beast with a Few Quirks

I liked The Bajaj Dominar 400 bike as soon as I saw it in the Bajaj showroom. My wife and son were happy to see new bike. The Bajaj Dominar 400 bike has 373.3 cc engine pushes me back with its 40 PS power and 35 Nm torque making every ride thrilling. The dual channel ABS and slipper clutch are features providing that extra layer of safety and control. The Dominar 400 offers a smooth ride on highways. The Bajaj Dominar 400 mileage is not great. The vibrations at high speeds could be a deal breaker for some.

A packed of all features

Having owned the Bajaj Dominar 400 for a while now it has been quite the adventure. The 373.3 cc engine is a beast offering exhilarating speeds and a robust performance that is hard to match. It is particularly fun on highways where you can really feel its full potential. Plus the ABS feature adds a layer of safety that is much appreciated. But like every story there is another side. The bike has Fuel efficiency is another area where the Dominar 400 could use some improvement.

Awesome Bike

I have been riding dominar 400 for the last six years now and my experience with it has been very, Very good1to say the least.Over the course with this bike, I have covered many highways good and bad, Long city rides,1Short city rides, In bumper-to-bumper traffic.I have driven in the unforgiving rains, Scorching sunlight,1Darkest nights and battering winds. Before getting my hands on the dominar 400 in 2018, I had the experience of driving a bajaj discover, Bajaj caliber, Bajaj boxer ct, Hero dawn, Tvs apache rtr 160, Hero honda passion, Hero splendor, Bajaj avenger, Hero karizma zmr, Re thunderbird 350 on different1routes, But i owned none of them. Therefore, There always was a longing for a motorcycle, That too a powerful1one which i could take on long tours to satisfy my exploration desires. However, My financial circumstances did1not allow me to fulfil this dream till 2018 when i finally decided to get a motorcycle.I thought for three months and zeroed down on three bikes:1dominar 400, 390 duke & re classic 350, With each bike having its merits and demerits.Firstly, I1eliminated the classic 350 based on its poor reliability, Sub-par electronics, Relatively inefficient engine1and single-channel abs (this was the case with the contemporary model, I hear that the things have improved1now with this bike).Showdown was 390 duke vs dominar 400.Both bikes were manufactured by bajaj, Had nearly the1same engine but dominar was heavy, Very heavy when compared to the ever-so-nimble duke 390.The duke had every1edge over the dominar 400, Both being almost equal but the dominar falling back only slightly on some1parameters.So, My answer to why the dominar 400 over duke 390:(1) duke is substantially costlier than dominar - with myself just coming out of financial crisis, I was willing1to let go of the duke's merits over the dominar just to avoid additional rs.50-60k.Duke would also cost me1for its higher maintenance charges over the lifetime when compare with the dominar.(2) dominar will be easier1to maintain given the higher number of bajaj service centers relatively. Now, The ownership review:positives1first:(1) this motorcycle has performed excellent on highways - i have been to many places and 60% of my riding has1been on highways itself. It is so planted on the roads at high speeds that it won't go into instability even1if you wanted to - that said, Please ride responsibly.(2) no major breakdowns so far, Except for front fork1leakage which was immediately rectified by the service staff.(3) every time i get a free road ahead, I cruise1the bike effortlessly and cherish my involuntary smile from ear to ear - quite nice engine feedback.(4) with1both oil and air cooling, Bike doesn't heat up in sparse traffic.(5) service costs never exceed the rs.30001mark.(6) wider and comfortable pillion seat, Which can be more comfortable if you adjust the preload on rear1mono-shock.(7) brakes are unexpectedly good and the large discs are a boon at such a price.(8) mrf stock tyres1are very good although rides could be made better with appollo alpha h1.Anyway, Tyres are a personal choice and can be changed to pirelli/ metzellers or any other brand based on1individual requirements.(9) headlamp is quite illuminous and provides ample lit roads in pitch dark nights.I1miss the illumination of d400 whenever i ride anything else.(10) slipper clutch works just as fine, With gear shifts limited only by their hardness, Which itself can be1cured with better engine oils. With this feature, I can always overtake vehicles in a breeze.(11) the riding stance with my height of 5'6" is quite comfortable and i am quite comfortable for longer1rides.(12) dual-channel abs - saved me from falling countless times. Now, The negatives:(1) vibrations - the bike vibrates at rpms lower than 3000, However, These can be controlled by using1aftermarket dampers.(2) it is heavy, Very heavy.I am 5'6" tall and this heaviness with 795mm seat1height had some issues earlier, But i have now adapted anyway. But it feels undercompensated when with the same1engine and better-quality parts, The dukes are quite lighter. This issue creates problem in congested traffic1situations, But i repeat, I have adapted and so can anyone.(3) plastic parts used are good, But not the1best.This combined with average workmanship of service centers doesn't always yield good results.(4) heats up1in bumper-to-bumper traffic, But this has never caused any issue as the air cooling comes efficiently into1picture.(5) my model didn't have the gear level indicator, Which i am told is now included in newer1models.(5) mileage i achieve on highways is around 35-40 kmpl, But in city rides, It comes down severely to122-27 kmpl which is better than any re bike, But still unsatisfactory.(6) service experience is not always1good - i have to squabble many times with the service staff to get things done properly.Well, This is all i1can say about the positives and negatives of the bike.Overall, The dominar is a very good motorcycle and no1one will ever regret getting it.But still, If you can afford to have a 390 duke, Then and only then, You may1ditch the dominar 400 in this segment.

Best Bike

I have been riding the Dominar 400 for over two years now and I can say that it is one of the best bikes, I have ever owned. It is powerful, Comfortable, Reliable, and versatile. Here are some of the pros and cons of owning this beast. Pros:- the engine is smooth and responsive, with a lot of torque and a satisfying exhaust note. It can easily cruise at triple-digit speeds without breaking a sweat. The 6-speed gearbox is slick and precise, with a slipper clutch that prevents wheel hop during aggressive downshifts.- the suspension is well-tuned for both city and highway riding, With a good balance of comfort and handling. The bike feels stable and planted on corners, with good feedback from the tires. The dual-channel abs brakes are strong and progressive, With good bite and modulation.- the ergonomics are comfortable for long rides, with a relaxed riding posture and a well-padded seat. The windscreen offers decent wind protection, while the mirrors provide a good rear view. The instrument cluster is clear and informative, With a digital speedometer, Tachometer, Fuel gauge, Odometer, trip meter, Clock, Gear indicator, and a service reminder.- the bike is well-built and durable, with a solid frame and quality components. The fit and finish are excellent, With no rattles or squeaks. The bike has been trouble-free so far, With no major issues or breakdowns. The service intervals are reasonable, with a low maintenance cost. Cons:- the bike is heavy, weighing around 184 kg. This makes it difficult to maneuver in tight spaces or traffic jams. The bike also has a high seat height of 800 mm, Which can be a problem for shorter riders.- the bike is fuel-hungry, With an average mileage of around 25 kmpl. This means that you have to fill up frequently, especially on long rides. The fuel tank capacity is also low, At 13 liters. This limits the range of the bike to around 300 km on a full tank.- the bike is not very suitable for off-road riding, as it lacks ground clearance and traction for rough terrain. The bike also has a low-slung exhaust, which can get damaged by rocks or bumps. The bike also lacks some features that are common in other bikes in this segment, such as LED headlights, Bluetooth connectivity, ride modes, and traction control.

Telibagh lucknow

4.6

I own a bajaj dominar 400 ug bs iv green & black colour which i purchased in june 2019 from naamdhari bajaj showroom in telibagh lucknow, And till now it has done 25, 000 + kms.So far it has been a very happy and satisfying ownership experience & i expect the same experience from my motorcycle in the years to come as well.I ride this motorcycle daily and am a very satisfied and proud owner of it.I'm getting between 25 - 28 kms/ltr of fuel economy from my motorcycle which is acceptable considering that it is quite a heavy motorcycle and a powerful one as well.373.2 cc & 40 bhp are good power figures for such a motorcycle. It is the most value for money motorcycle available in india and it offers a lot of features as well.Just a few things i would like to mention here that could have made it even better.1 it should have had a bigger 17 - 18 ltrs capacity fuel tank, 13 ltrs fuel tank is just not enough for this motorcycle if long distance high speed touring is on your mind which this motorcycle is very well capable of doing, 2 it should have been 20 - 25 kgs lighter in weight, 3 front disc brake should have offered slightly more stronger initial bite, 4 a main centre stand is missed and it should have been there in this motorcycle.Nonetheless.I am enjoying every moment riding this motorcycle from day one, Love the way it picks up speed in any of the 6 gears, Love the high speed handling and behaviour of this motorcycle at triple digit speeds, The motorcycle only starts wobbling above the speed of 150 km/hr which is an issue that i have faced and many other dominar owners must have also faced the same issue, Till 150 km/hr it is goodlove the feeling that i get while riding it.It always brings a smile on my face 😊love the looks of it 💚got the chain sprocket set changed last month at 24, 000 kms.Stock mrf tyres on this motorcycle are actually very good if not great, I may be trying some other brand tyres once these tyres wear off.I feel they can do another 10, 000 - 12, 000 kms or so.Next set of tyres can be apollo alpha h 1 or metzelers or michelinslet's see.I'm not sure of it rite now.

Or over the span of 2 1/2

3.8

Over the span of two and a half year i have covered 32, 000 km on my bike.So i think this would be the right time to speak about the bike. Before going into the details.Let me first address the drawbacks for those who have already developed a fondness for this bike.Cons: 1.Weight: the bikes weight is immediately noticeable as it is considerably heavy, But not like the interceptor 650.Manoeuvring it in the city can be challenging.Requiring extra effort due to its weight.2.Riding position: the riding position is slightly leaning towards the front. This may cause shoulders train, Especially during city rides.3.Fuel efficiency: if fuel consumption concerns you, It will be more practical to consider purchasing a scooter or a splendor. Now let’s get to towards the positive side of the bike.Pros: 1.Power: the bike truly is a beast regarding power. It basically is a d-tuned ktm 390 engine. Its potential becomes evident once you open the throttle. It operates on a league of its own offering an exhilarating experience.Additionally, Due to its weight distribution the bike stays of rounded.I was able to hit a top speed of 156 km/h on the open highway. These are the main pros and cons of the bike. However, There are small things that you will discover and evaluate on your own.In terms of service experience.I’ve had a positive experience in bangalore.Although the spare parts can be bit pricey due to the shared compatibility with the ktm model. It’s important not to compromise on maintenance of your bike. While occasional issues may arise but the overall performance remain satisfactory. The only disappointing aspect is the overall build quality, Being primarily made of fibre, Plastic certain parts me develop a slightly looseness over a period of time.To summarise, There are always better bikes.Launching one after the other in the market just go with what you like.

Driving experience is top

This is a complete review of dominar 400 ug read it to decide whether to take this bike or not.Driving experience is top notch the pickup this bike gives for this price cannot be matched. Some may say put a little more money and get a duke 390 but the sound, Comfort in longs, Mid range performance the official look won't come in duke 390.Coming to the best things it is build quality, Beast like look, Dual barrel exhaust, Pickup, Midrange performance, Looks official to anybody, Attention grabbing bike, Bassy sound, Comfort to the pillion, Nothing compares to this in longs and you'll love the vibration in a good way.Coming to bad things bike is heavy compared to competitors, Not easy to maneuver in traffic, you turn is difficult, Heating is more when you are static or in slow moving traffic, Difficult to lift when bike falls, Maintenance is comparatively high but manageable and fuel economy is average. After sales service is good don't go to service centers other than bajaj.Features in this bike is very basic you get a negative cluster which gives rpm indication, Odometer, Tacho meter and fuel and time.Gear position indicator is on the tank which is difficult to look at which i don't like about this bike.I have to say the dual channel brakes work really well and is a life saver. And one more thing is you get a ton of touring accessories for this bike which upon addition becomes a great tourer you can take this bike to hard places it will travel with all the heart with you.Just go for it neglect small disadvantages and go for the bike.

Speed range

I have a Dominar 400 BS6 model. I almost covered 10k kilometres and felt lots of issues are there. 1. Engine: the engine is not enough to smooth it produces lots of vibration, noise, and jerking. The speed range is very short according to gear. Eg: the engine will produce more noise if you try to speed up over 40 kmph in the 4th gear. On the other hand, you have to pull down your gear if your speed is below 50 kmph. 2. Build quality: the control switch got burned after 1 year, found some oil leakage from the body of the engine. The color of the engine is getting white because of heat. 3. Braking system: the rear brake, anyhow is not working, The front brake is getting jammed some time while the bike runs. 4. Servicing: most of the time parts are not available at the showroom. You are forced to use the Bajaj engine oil made by HP. The quality of this oil is very very poor. You will feel more vibration after running 20-30 kilometres. Recently I drove RE meteor, the engine is very cool & smooth than Dominar 400. The insurance & registration price will be almost doubled if the engine capacity is more than 350cc.

This is best bajaj product, This bike will give you the premium feeling, Which you will not get even in the rc series, The price is affordable i bought it for around 2 lakh 35k, The throttle response is mind-blowing, It will take you to 120kmph in just minutes, I have done a 162kmph after 1st service.Sometimes it get heated in the busy streets, But that's not an issue, Afterall its 375cc bike.It gives a mileage about 23-25kmpl depends on the riding, The braking is awesome, The cons are 1- the second instruments cluster that is on the fuel tank, Its very risky to see that while riding, But that can be upgraded to the main instrument cluster by an ecu update that you need to do.2- the fuel tank could have been more that what provided for the long tours, She has a 13ltrs fuel tank.It is a heavy weighing bike, But believe me when you'll be riding it you won't feel that weight, Its so much fun to ride this bike. Its a beast.

Driving experience

5.0

-the driving experience of dominar 400 is very smooth, This bike just glides in the traffic and hover on highway.-this bike is very comfortable for long rides.I have rode this bike with 150+ kms in one go and did not face any issue.- the mileage of this bike is low in traffic but can get upto 30+ kms/litre on highway.-the additional benefit of this new version of the bike is the back rest it makes the pillion very comfortable for long rides.-there is no j**k while changing gears, No stalling.- the additional fitting for adding carrier just adds value to the bike.-the vibrates over 120kms of speed.-the feature are less comparative to their competition but has more comfort than it rival bikes.-the after sale service is good but still the people in the service center does not listen to your requirements.-the parts are not explicitly available in the service center, Had to wait for the parts for more than 2 months.- in conclusion the bike is a super hit and has almost everything and all features which a touring bike would need and would be a best buy for any tour love people, Only if the parts and accessories would made available on time then it would have been a 10/10 rating bike.-as per with the current specifications and parts availability i would rate it as 7/10.

Personal experience

From experience perspective, This is one of the best bikes to consider for touring, And in a very reasonable budget.Amazing comfort, No vibrations, Very refined engine and capable of doing decent speeds of around 120kmph comfortably on highways. The best thing about this is the touring capabilities in terms of luggage carrying capacity and setup options, And a very comfortable seat, Enabling to ride for long distances at a stretch.Something that is not very good about it though, Is because of the weight of the bike, It compromises on the maneuverability in cities while riding in traffic, But it is all about getting used to the feel of the bike. The overall performance is just amazing, No shortfalls whatsoever, And a decent mileage of around 30kmpl in highways (considering a 400cc engine) and 25kmpl in city traffic, And decent acceleration to keep up and stay ahead of traffic. However, I am not entirely satisfied with the after sales service, Although a major factor in this is people, Who can be very different in different places. But from my personal experience, I would not consider after sales service to be a plus point here.Overall, Enjoyable experience to own and ride this bike, Cheap maintenance cost and lots of fun.Enjoy an amazing set of 2 wheels!!.

Impressed with the performance

I decided to buy this bike at first impression. This bike was nothing like those in the market, plus I did the test ride which I was impressed with. I was clear on my buying decision - I do not wanted quick pick up like ktm, nor I didn't want it to be light, I didn't even like the sound of Royan Enfield (RE is common nowadays). I have been riding this vehicle since 2017. Must say I am impressed with the performance of this bike. I occasionally do long rides on highways, I could easily do 200 + kms in a day, I am sure I can do more with ease, it is that comfortable. The only thing that I do not like about Bajaj is competing with RE. Dominar 400 is very capable bike and needs no comparison, If this thing can be taken care of, I am sure Bajaj will have more sales. The new 2022 Dominar is well packaged product that I actually wanted in my bike, I am sure people would have sold old version and upgraded to new or just ordered the parts whatever one needed. I used to take my bike for office as well. In traffic it feels a bit heavy, However as you get your hands on to it, You won't think about the weight again. Moreover most of the people still are not aware there is a bike called dominar 400, Even to this day people ask me to inquire which bike is this and so on.

Value For Money Bike

I own this bike for the past 1 year. Believe me, it feels like you are driving a great bike. It has a great road presence and it catches so much attention on the road. Nevertheless, initially, you feel it is a bit heavy if you are upgrading from the low cc bikes. With my experience below are some pros and cons. Pros:- 1. People will notice you when you are riding this. 2. Stability is amazing. You won't even feel like you are going with 100+. 3. The mileage is also good. It can give you somewhere between 25-30 all depending on your driving style. 4. Now it comes with riding accessories so it is very helpful. 5. It is so budget-friendly and has a tough body as per Indian terrains. 6. Maintenance is very low per 400 cc bike. 7. It has great power the 400cc engine provides 40bhp which is good in this price range. Cons:- 1. Suspension can be better. Sometimes riding feels a little bit stiff. But only on long stretches. 2. Brakes can be better. Anyway, it comes with dual channel ABS but still doesn't give you that much confidence as compared to its rivals like KTM/BMW. 3. Not so good for people with short height. If you are like 5.6 feet then you can handle it. 4. Even though Bajaj's service network is good you will not find their service quality up to the mark.
