ZigWheels has learnt that Suzuki will launch its latest 150c offering – the Gixxer 150 on August 10th. It is expected that the Suzuki Gixxer would retail for around Rs 75,000. The Gixxer 150 has created a lot of curiosity among Indian two-wheeler consumers owing to its aggressive styling after its public debut at the 2014 Auto Expo. Design elements that help the Gixxer 150 stand out among its rivals include its neatly crafted headlamp, chiselled fuel tank with tank shrouds, beefy chrome tipped muffler and chunky 140 section rear tyre.

The new offering will be powered a 155cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that is expected to pump out 13.9PS of peak power and torque rating of 13.4Nm. Power is transferred to the rear-wheel by a five-speed gearbox unlike the six-speed transmission seen on the Suzuki GS 150R. The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer has also equipped the 155c mill with Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) system that it claims helps in improving the fuel efficiency of the bike.

The Suzuki Gixxer 150 will be an important bike for Suzuki as it hasn’t received much success with the GS 150R or for that matter with any of its motorcycle in the Indian market. It’s the scooters that have enabled Suzuki in raking in the numbers but with the Gixxer 150 it will be hoping to change that trend but its biggest hurdle remains dealer network which it needs to increase. At an estimated pricing of between Rs 75 to 80,000 the Suzuki Gixxer 150 will be pitched against the recently launched Yamaha FZ Version 2.0, Honda CB Trigger and Hero Xtreme among the others. Bookings for the bike have already commenced and we expect deliveries to start soon after the launch. Also Read: Suzuki Gixxer 150 Preview
