While much of the hype surrounding the Tata Nano has died down since the car’s launch, there is no denying that it still is the most affordable car in India, maybe even the whole world. The 624cc two-cylinder petrol motor has been working well in the car so far, but a diesel motor has been on the cards for a long time.
Tata Motors has been actively working with Bosch Diesel Systems to develop a 800cc two-cylinder diesel engine for the last couple of years and finally based on what the boffins at Bosch have been saying, it has been confirmed that this diesel Nano will be launched next year. That will make this car the most affordable diesel in the country and it could also be the most economical to run. What is critical for Tata with this car is pricing, but the company has almost always delivered on this front.
