Mahindra Two Wheelers is undergoing a successful run as its 110cc offerings, the Centuro and the Pantero has been well received by the buyers and is clocking healthy sales figure on a monthly basis. Mahindra wants to cling on to this momentum and ape the same success in the scooter segment and for this purpose it plans to introduce an all-new scooter at the 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi scheduled in February. The new scooter codenamed G101 would be powered by an indigenously developed 110cc mill. The automatic scooter is undergoing rigorous testing and according to sources it almost production ready and in final stages of its validation before production commences.

Currently it has four products in its scooter portfolio which include the Duro DZ, Rodeo RZ, Flyte and the Kine. But these offerings haven’t been able to maintain the same sales figure which was generated when the scooters were launched. And for Mahindra, this isn’t a good sign as the automatic scooter segment has witnessed a tremendous rise in demand while sales of motorcycles have been flattish. With the new 110cc scooter, Mahindra plans to arrest this decline in sales and turn the tables. The G101 will have its task cut out as it would be pitched against some fierce rivals like the Honda Activa, Hero Maestro and the Suzuki Access 125. But if one goes by the recent products introduced by Mahindra like the Centuro and Pantero, then the G101 might be a worthy competitor. Also it is rumoured that it would be launching another scooter powered by the same 110cc mill in the near future.
