The Fiat Punto Evo will be launched on August 8 and will be available with both petrol and diesel engines.

The all-new Fiat Punto Evo will soon be launched in India on the 8th of August 2014 and will be available with a choice of power plants. Fiat will offer two 4-cylinder petrol engines, a 1.2 and a 1.4-litre and a 1.3-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder, diesel engine. The diesel engine will feature two states of tune, a base model 75PS and a top-of-the-line 93PS version.

The biggest difference in the Punto is its all new front fascia. The large front grille blends well with the all new swept back headlights. The front bumper too has been redesigned and now gets similar trapezoidal chrome bezels for the fog lamps. The same look has been carried forward to the rear bumpers as well with chrome surrounds for the rear fog lamp and reversing lamp. The LED taillights add an up-market feel to the rear. While a lot of changes have been made to the front and rear of the car, the profile remains unchanged. The only noteworthy difference is the alloys. The petrol and the diesel variant get different alloy wheels.

Fiat Punto Evo Interior

The Fiat Punto Evo borrows much of its interiors from the New Linea including the dashboard, centre console and the instrument cluster. Like its elder sibling, the Punto too gets stylish ambient lighting on the dashboard. The Punto Evo also has enough space in the rear seats to comfortably seat three passengers and a boot that is large enough to fit a weekend full of luggage.

The key to the Punto’s success is the way Fiat prices it. With competition like the Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Volkswagen Polo, the Nissan Micra and the Toyota Liva along with upcoming new cars like the new Hyundai i20 and the new Honda Jazz, the Punto might find it difficult to make a real impact to the segment. That said, the Punto is still very good looking, quirky and handles like a dream. Expect the new 2014 Fiat Punto Evo to be priced at about Rs 5-7.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
