Expert's Opinion on iQube ST
Overview
Fun, Practical And Expensive
- The TVS iQube ST is an elegant-looking electric scooter
- It gets lots of features, and is very fun to ride with decent levels of performance
- The scooter is practical as well but costs a bomb
Design
Simple Yet Elegant
- Has a simple family-oriented design which looks quite premium thanks to the chrome elements and beige inner plastics along with premium looking dual-tone seat
- The LED headlight is neatly integrated in the apron along with the LED DRL on the front cowl
- The fit and finish levels are up to the mark giving it an upmarket feel
- Doesn’t stand out much from other family-oriented scooters
Performance & Mileage
Smooth Operator
- The 4.4kW motor offers a claimed top-speed of 82kmph for the 5.3kWh battery pack variant
- The power delivery is smooth and linear
- It has ample amounts of power for quick overtakes and can easily zip through traffic
- In power mode, it offers enough performance to hold speeds of 65-70kmph
- The Eco mode has capped the speed to 50kmph which feels very mundane to ride
Battery & Charging
More Than Adequate
- The top-spec 5.3kWh battery pack variant offers a decent claimed range of 212km in Eco mode and slightly less than that in Power mode
- The scooter can charge from 0-80 percent in 4 hours and 18 minutes which is quite good considering the large battery pack
- Does not get a fast charger
Handling
An Unexpected Delight
- The batteries are placed underneath the floorboard and are well-balanced
- Despite the 119kg kerb weight, the scooter feels light and nimble
- It loves to be flicked and take the corners on confidently
- It remains stable even while cornering
- Brakes offer good feedback and allow the scooter to stop on its heels
Ride Quality
A Sporty Family Scooter
- The riding posture is relaxed and upright making it comfortable for long and short distance commutes
- It gets a long well-padded seat along with a pillion backrest which makes the iQube ST quite comfortable for both rider and pillion
- With an underseat storage capacity of 32 litres and a long floorboard, it is more than enough to store your daily groceries and still have room left
- The stiff suspension means that you will feel the bumps and undulations
Comfort & Storage
Room For Everyone And Everything
- The riding posture is relaxed and upright making it comfortable for long and short distance commutes
- The seat is long and well-padded for two adults to be comfortable
- With an underseat storage capacity of 32 litres and a long floorboard, it is more than enough to store your daily groceries and still have room left
Features
Purposeful And A Lot
- The 7-inch TFT display is crisp and has a clean layout and the adaptive auto brightness feature works seamlessly
- The display supports smartphone connectivity and has TPMS which is very useful
- The display is glitchy while navigating through and is annoying
- Could do with full Google Maps navigation, especially at this price point
Verdict
Should you buy the TVS iQube ST?
- The TVS iQube ST is a good-looking electric scooter with a lot to offer to every member of the family
- It looks simple, handles well and has a lot of features but lacks a charm which does not make it stand out
- Though it is a very hard to recommend scooter especially at the price it comes at
